Should one or more acceding countries not join the European Union the adjustments calculated for this or these countries shall be deducted from the limits set out in the Appendices to this letter and the respective amendments mentioned under point 2.2 shall not enter into force.

The Joint Management Committee, hereafter called the Committee, established in Article 89(3) of the Association Agreement shall meet within the first year, after the entry into force of this Agreement, and on request of either Party thereafter, not exceeding however a frequency in principle of one meeting a year.

The Contracting Parties agree to convene a meeting of the Joint-Follow-up Group as soon as possible after the entry into force of this Agreement in order to reach a common interpretation of the necessary criteria to be complied with concerning the relevant levels of protection to be applied pursuant to Article 7 (1).

If, in the Joint Follow-up Group, a representative of a Contracting Party has accepted a decision subject to the completion of the internal procedures necessary for that purpose, the decision shall enter into force, if no date is contained therein, on the first day of the second month after such a completion is notified.

The Contracting Parties shall individually or jointly take all appropriate measures in accordance with the provisions of this Convention and those Protocols in force to which they are party, to prevent, abate and combat pollution of the Mediterranean Sea area and to protect and enhance the marine environment in that area.

(a) "EUPOL Proxima" means the European Union Police Mission in the Host Party established by the Council of the European Union in Joint Action 2003/681/CFSP dated 29 September 2003, including its components, forces, units, headquarters and personnel deployed in the territory of the Host Party and assigned to EUPOL Proxima.

The EFTA States shall contribute financially to the actions referred to in paragraph 1 in accordance with Article 82 (1) (a) of the Agreement.` Article 12 This Decision shall enter into force on 1 November 1994, provided that all the notifications required under Article 103 (1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee.

WHEREAS it is necessary to ensure that pending the entry into force of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the establishment of the Cooperation Council, the Joint Committee set up under the Agreement on Trade and Commercial and Economic Cooperation may exercise the powers assigned by the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement to the Cooperation Council;

Whereas on 7 June 1995 the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) made a joint complaint to the Commission under Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No 3281/94 and called for Myanmar to be temporarily withdrawn from the Community scheme of generalized tariff preferences because of its use of forced labour;

Point 1 of the Final Act to the Convention Implementing the Schengen Agreement signed on 19 June 1990 and of the respective Final Acts to the Agreements on the accession, to that Convention, of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden, which were signed on 19 December 1996, contains a Joint Declaration on the entry into force of the instruments in question.

Agreement between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Swiss Confederation, of the other, on the free movement of persons - Final Act - Joint Declarations - Information relating to the entry into force of the seven Agreements with the Swiss Confederation in the sectors free movement of persons, air and land transport, public procurement, scientific and technological cooperation, mutual recognition in relation to conformity assessment, and trade in agricultural products

(1) At its meeting of 3 December 1998 the Council of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers adopted the Action Plan of the Council and the Commission on how best to implement the provisions of the Treaty of Amsterdam on an area of freedom, security and justice fn, measure 48 of which states that, within five years of the Treaty's entering into force, action should be taken to promote cooperation and joint initiatives in training, the exchange of liaison officers, secondment, the use of equipment and forensic research.

The EEA Joint Committee shall, from the entry into force of the Agreement, take the appropriate decisions concerning the modalities, including those concerning any financial contributions by EFTA States, which shall apply in respect of the cooperation in the framework of the Community's activities in implementing the Council Decision on the improvement of the business environment and the promotion of development of enterprises, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises in the Community fn and activities following therefrom.

With reference to the Protocol, initialled on 25 June 2001, setting out the fishing opportunities and the financial contribution for the period from 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2006, and to the Joint Committee Meeting of 16 to 18 June 2003, I have the honour to inform you that the Home Rule Government of Greenland is prepared to apply the modifications to the Protocol concerning the provisions for experimental fisheries, as set out in the Protocol annexed, on a provisional basis with effect from 1 July 2003, pending its entry into force, provided that the European Community is disposed to do the same.

in order to promote progress to this end, each of these parties shall communicate, within six months of the entry into force of the Convention for it and periodically thereafter, and in accordance with Article 12, detailed information on its policies and measures referred to in subparagraph (a) above, as well as on its resulting projected anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol for the period referred to in subparagraph (a), with the aim of returning individually or jointly to their 1990 levels of these anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol. This information will be reviewed by the Conference of the parties, at its first session and periodically thereafter, in accordance with Article 7;

The second task of the Standing Committee shall be to lay the foundations so that the Executive Committee can ensure the proper application of the Schengen Convention by the States which have already brought it into force, in particular by following up the recommendations made by the visiting committees to the external borders, by ensuring that follow-up action is taken to remedy the shortcomings mentioned in the Annual Report on the External Borders, by focusing greater attention on the joint efforts needed to improve the quality of controls at the external borders and by optimising the application of the Convention in the fields of police cooperation, judicial cooperation and the SIS.The Standing Committee shall seek solutions to the problems detected and shall make proposals for the satisfactory and optimal implementation of the Convention.Sole responsibility for checking to ensure that the Convention is properly applied shall continue to remain with the Schengen States.The Standing Committee shall therefore confine itself to carrying out the verification procedures as defined in the following mandate.

This Joint Action shall enter into force on 1 July 2003.
