Important investigators of the western Slovenia before the World War I and in the first years following it were Kossmat (1897a, 1897b, 1905a, 1905b, 1906a, 1906b, 1908, 1909, 1913), Diener (1903), Waagen (1906) and Winkler (1921, 1923). In their more or less comprehensive works they presented the geology of the wider region, as well as numerous details of the development of the Cretaceous beds.
