Definicija: The Committee was set up to improve and simplify the environment for enterprises and in particular SMEs. It consists of expert representatives from each Member State, and is charged with carrying out consultations on legislative and administrative provisions which hamper the creation, growth and transfer of enterprises (e.g. in the following fields, as regards SMEs: financial instruments, capital markets, increased responsibility of enterprises, internationalization of activities, statistical reporting obligations).

Definicija: The Committee assists the Commission in deciding and administering the co-financing of operations in the field with European non-governmental development organisations (NGOs) to meet the basic needs of disadvantaged people in developing countries. Such operations shall be proposed by European NGOs and conducted in cooperation with their partners in the developing countries and shall be aimed at poverty alleviation as well as at enhancing the target group's quality of life and own development capacity. The Committee delivers its opinion on a draft of the measures to be taken.
